Story Stones

This activity promotes development and learning by encouraging children to demonstrate use of creativity and imagination in learning and play.

Materials Needed:

  • 10 to 15 smooth stones (2 to 3 inches wide)
  • Markers or paint
  • Small bag

Participants: This activity is intended for adult/child interaction.

Directions:

  1. Wash and dry the stones.
  2. Draw a figure or symbol on each stone, such as a girl, boy, dragon, tree, house, etc.
  3. Place the stones in the bag. Each person takes five or six stones from the bag. Make up a story using the symbols on the stones.
