Family Picture Hunt

This activity promotes development and learning by encouraging children to use hands and fingers to explore and interact with the environment.

Materials Needed:

  • Printouts of family photos
  • Tray or cookie sheet
  • Sand or cornmeal

Participants: This activity is intended for independent play or adult/child interaction.

Directions:

  1. Lay the family photos on the cookie sheet or tray.
  2. Cover the photos with sand or cornmeal (use inexpensive copies printed on regular copy paper).
  3. Encourage your child to find the photos in the sand or cornmeal. Ask her to name each person or give each person’s name.
