Anyone who’s ever walked into one of our child care centers knows the precious resource that makes these places so special.   

It’s our teachers. 

They love what they do. You only have to see their faces when they get a hug, a smile, or see a newly mobile toddler release mom’s pinky one morning and wobble solo into their waiting arms for the first time. 

On normal days, these important child care providers are the rock for our clients and working parents around the country. But right now, many are doing what they love in ways they couldn’t have imagined just a month ago, standing alongside doctors and nurses and grocers and restaurant workers and delivery people and other essential employees. All of who are only able to do their important work, because our teachers are with their children doing theirs.  

Earlier this month, Governor Cuomo included child care workers among the everyday heroes stepping up for all of us.

We couldn’t agree more. 

“I’ve always known you’re heroes,” said our Chief Operating Officer Mary Lou Burke Afonso recently. “And I know it because I get to walk among all of you every day.”
