The Gender Pay Gap For Moms Who Just Had Their First Child Is Startling

April 30, 2019 – The 2018 Modern Family Index results were covered in Bustle by Mehreen Kasana in an article about the gender pay gap for women who just had their first child, also known as the 'motherhood penalty.'

"Sociologists and economists have long pointed to the inequality working mothers face in their professions," Kasana writes.

She goes on to cite MFI data that revealed "working moms are often perceived to be less committed or less competent than other employees."
