Bright Horizons Named #1 on Boston Globe's Top Places to Work List

Bright Horizons Family Solutions has been named Number One on the Boston Globe’s annual “Top Places to Work” in Massachusetts list for the third time. This marks the third time in four years that Bright Horizons has taken the first place spot on the list, underscoring the strong culture that Bright Horizons employees have built and have been committed to since the company’s founding in 1986.

“When I travel across the country and meet with employers, I am repeatedly asked what the secret is to creating a great place to work and the truth is, a great place to work cannot be created from the top down,” said Bright Horizons Chief Executive Officer David Lissy. “A great place to work is built by employees who are inspired to make a difference, who believe in the mission of your organization, and who truly like and care about their co-workers. Being recognized as a great place to work for the third time in four years is absolutely a testament to that and I am thrilled to share this award with the entire Bright Horizons family.”

The “Top Places to Work” list is based on employee feedback from a survey of nearly two dozen questions that measure three critical elements of the workplace: direction, execution and connection. Among other things, the survey asks employees to rate their organization based on several factors including appreciation, management practices and career opportunities.

“This is a terrific honor for our employees in what was, without a doubt, a trying year for Boston and our hometown of Watertown,” said Mary Ann Tocio, Bright Horizons Family Solutions president and chief operating officer. “During those difficult days in April, our employees in the city and at our home office once again came together and showed the perseverance of an organization that cares for and about people. Like the City of Boston as a whole, our employees emerged a stronger team. Dave and I could not be more proud of this well-deserved recognition.”

The “Top Places to Work” survey is run through WorkplaceDynamics, an independent company specializing in employee engagement and retention. The full list of Top Places to Work was featured in a special section in the Boston Sunday Globe on November 17.
