College Coach Collaborates with Edmit to Help Students Get Smart About College

September 10, 2018 – Students are back to school and for college-bound high school seniors and their families, college applications and admissions are top of mind. The hard questions begin swirling – Where should they apply? What is the likelihood they will be accepted? How much will it all cost? And with student loan debt making headlines across the country, where can they get the best bang for their buck?

College Coach has served as a leading provider of educational advising, working with more than 32,000 families a year to provide individualized college admissions and financing help through a team of former admissions and college finance officers. Families seek out College Coach experts for guidance on high school classes and extracurricular activities, college list building, application planning and timelines, college essay writing and interview strategy, and tips on paying for college, applying for scholarships, and managing the financial aid process. To further round out the college planning experience for families, College Coach is collaborating with Edmit, a startup in the college affordability space, to offer Edmit Premium. Available today, Edmit Premium provides families with access to College Coach’s personalized services, including:
  • Two on-demand College Coach webinars offering expert insight into the college admissions process and guidance on paying for college
  • A hand-picked, fully customized target list of colleges from a College Coach admissions expert
  • A one-on-one advising session with a former college financial aid officer, and
  • Access to College Coach’s Help Desk and Learning Center.

They will also have use of Edmit’s college affordability planner as well as customized financial aid, admissibility, post-graduation earnings estimates, and the ability to compare up to five colleges simultaneously. The new program offering combines College Coach’s expertise in college admissions and financing counseling with the breadth of Edmit’s cost analysis features.

"College Coach was started to help families have more success with the daunting college application and financing process, and in that time we have seen the college landscape change tremendously in terms of admissions requirements and cost," said Elizabeth Heaton, Vice President of Educational Consulting at College Coach. "Our goal in offering our admissions expertise with Edmit’s financial-fit technology is to help families feel more confident about their college selection and the long-term investment they are making in their child’s future."

Edmit launched last year as a college comparison-shopping resource with the goal of helping families better understand the value of their college investment. The company developed a proprietary software to generate a personalized financial-fit score based on a college’s affordability, value, and post-graduation earnings. Edmit Premium is a new addition to the company’s existing program offerings. Students and their families can purchase a one-year subscription Edmit Premium online for $999.

"We founded Edmit to create true price and value transparency for college-bound students and their families," said Nick Ducoff, co-founder and CEO of Edmit. "By combining our value data with College Coach’s application process expertise, we will be able to provide more college-bound families with valuable support as they navigate these new waters," Ducoff said.
