Bright Horizons Highlights Success with Partnership for a Healthier America at 2016 Building a Healthier Future Summit

[Watertown, Mass./Washington, D.C. - May 19, 2016] - Bright Horizons Family Solutions® was a proud sponsor of the 2016 Building a Healthier Future Summit created by The Partnership for a Healthier America (PHA), which works with the private sector and PHA Honorary Chair, First Lady Michelle Obama, to make healthier choices easier for busy parents and families.

The PHA Summit convened private sector, government, academia and philanthropic leaders to discuss real solutions to ending America’s childhood obesity crisis. As a featured speaker, Bright Horizons Family Solutions® Senior Vice President of Education, Dr. Susan Brenner joined Dr. Randy Woodson, Chancellor of North Carolina State University, and Stephen Dunmore, CEO, Schools North America, Sodexo in the breakout session on the “Lifetime of a PHA Commitment” led by Larry Soler, President & CEO for the Partnership for a Healthier America.

“Bright Horizons is proud to have completed the life cycle of the partnership with PHA, serving as a model for other child care centers looking to incorporate practices, activities and lessons that are geared toward helping children to develop healthy habits at an early age,” said Dr. Brenner. “If we do our part right, children will gain lifelong healthy habits which they will never have to undo."

Bright Horizons Family Solutions® has been a partner working with PHA since 2012.  Bright Horizons was recognized for taking a leadership role in the fight to end childhood obesity and promoting children's well-being at the 2015 Summit, where Bright Horizons Chief Executive Officer David Lissy introduced the keynote speaker, First Lady Michelle Obama.

About Partnership for a Healthier America

The Partnership for a Healthier America (PHA) is devoted to working with the private sector to ensure the health of our nation’s youth by solving the childhood obesity crisis. In 2010, PHA was created in conjunction with—but independent from—First Lady Michelle Obama’s Let’s Move! effort. PHA is a nonpartisan, nonprofit organization that is led by some of the nation’s most respected health and childhood obesity experts. PHA brings together public, private and nonprofit leaders to broker meaningful commitments and develop strategies to end childhood obesity. Most important, PHA ensures that commitments made are commitments kept by working with unbiased third parties to monitor and publicly report on the progress our partners are making. For more information about PHA, please visit www.ahealthieramerica.org and follow PHA on Twitter @PHAnews.
