Bright Horizons CEO Joins MIT AgeLab Fireside Chat on Longevity and the Changing Needs of Today’s Workforce
October 12, 2026 – Bright Horizons CEO Stephen Kramer recently joined Brooks Tingle, President and CEO of John Hancock, for a keynote fireside conversation at the 2026 MIT AgeLab Annual Member Forum, moderated by Dr. Joseph F. Coughlin, founder and director of MIT AgeLab. The discussion explored how longer lifespans, changing demographics, and increasing day-to-day complexity are reshaping the way people live, work, and plan for the future.
Drawing on Bright Horizons' unique perspective supporting working families through childcare, education, and caregiving, Kramer discussed how traditional life stages are becoming less sequential and more overlapping, as individuals balance careers, children, aging parents, and future planning at the same time. He emphasized the growing need for employers to help create the care and education infrastructure that enables people to thrive at every stage of life.
The conversation was part of the forum's broader theme, From Complexity to Confidence, which examined how organizations can better support consumers navigating increasingly complex lives through trust, technology, information, and personalized experiences. The event convened over 150 MIT AgeLab members, C-suite, senior executives, and invited industry leaders representing financial services, insurance, healthcare, automotive, technology, housing and senior living, caregiving, consumer products and other sectors.
As Kramer shared following the event, "No longer are life stages linear. Instead, life stages are compressed and overlapping. People have more on their plates all at once with far less help as their villages of support have disappeared. Bright Horizons is proud to partner with leading employers to help build the support systems working families need today and in the future.”
