Bright Horizons Center Director Honored for Work as a ‘Child Care Hero’
February 6, 2023 – Recently, the South Carolina Department of Social Services’ ABC Quality honored Tyniko Burrison, Center Director at Bright Horizons at University of South Carolina in Columbia, SC, for her work as a ‘Child Care Hero’.
ABC Quality is a voluntary rating and improvement program that helps South Carolina parents identify high quality child care and daycare providers. If a provider is in ABC Quality, parents can expect the highest quality services. Under Tyniko’s guidance, Bright Horizons at University of South Carolina has received an A rating. Having an A letter rating is proof a program goes above and beyond to provide the kind of child care children need to thrive.
Tyniko and her staff strive to provide children at Bright Horizons at University of South Carolina with all the essential tools needed to grow. Whether it’s curling up with a good book in the Growing Readers nook, engaging in creative and imaginative play in the music exploration room, or digging in and learning about Mother Nature in the outdoor gardening boxes, they offer endless opportunities for children to learn, discover, and explore.
Tyniko accepted her ‘Child Care Hero’ award in front of hundreds of Gamecocks fans at a University South Carolina men’s basketball game this past January.
“As a leader, this accomplishment has ignited my passion to lead and serve my team, families and educational community with HEART every day,” said Tyniko. “This award has caused our amazing team of educators to be proud of the work they are doing and solidify their commitment to continuing to provide high-quality care to children and families in the community we serve.”
