Somerville, MA Mayor Visits Bright Horizons at Teele Square for Jumpstart’s Read for the Record Day

October 26, 2023 – Somerville, MA Mayor Katjana Ballantyne visited Bright Horizons at Teele Square on October 26 to participate in Jumpstart’s annual Read for the Record Day. Jumpstart’s Read for the Record is the world’s largest shared reading experience with more than 2 million people participating. The day celebrates and supports children’s early language and social-emotional development. 

The mayor toured the center and visited with children and teachers on the playground before gathering in the Jr. Kindergarten classroom to read With Lots of Love by Jenny Torres Sanchez, illustrated by André Ceolin. With Lots of Love is a beautiful story about family and finding ways to stay connected with loved ones over long distances. After the reading, the mayor sat with the children and answered questions about the book.
