All Cloud Village center staff are trained in CPR and first aid. Once an employee is hired, they are required to fulfill 16 hours of training through our new employee orientation. This training takes place over a two-day period, where the employee spends time observing each age group in the center. Teachers must successfully complete first aid and CPR training, in addition to local licensing and/or Department of Health requirements (e.g., food handler safety card.)
The safety of the children in our care is our highest concern. Cloud Village maintains stringent hiring practices and conducts criminal background checks on all teachers and caregivers in our centers. This check includes a criminal record search and a cross-reference check to determine prior convictions or other records of criminal activity that would call into question an employee’s’ suitability to care for children. Additional elements of our required background checks include verification through the Office of Foreign Asset Control and Sexual Offender Database Search. The frequency for updating criminal background checks for employees depends on state or other center-specific requirements.
Communication is a huge part of our partnership with families! As an enrolled family, we will communicate with you in a variety of ways.
Along with maintaining an open-door policy, we prioritize making sure that you are always “in the know” by sharing children’s experiences through comprehensive and frequent communications, including:
• Daily communication through the My Bright Day app that provides convenient access to real-time updates on care, learning and milestones directly to your mobile device.
• Children’s journals and portfolios
• Documentation panels, classroom displays, and bulletin boards
• Check-in stations
• Center newsletters
• Visibility of center leadership at peak times of the day
Supportive family resources:
Because you are such a critical element in our full partnership approach, we have also created opportunities for you to become involved in the center.
• Special family events
• Opportunities to volunteer in the classrooms or to share holidays and traditions
• Family partnership groups
• Family satisfaction surveys
• Family resource library including: articles, parenting webinars, “Learning at Home” activities,
Rigorous health and safety practices are a foundation of the way we care for children. These include:
- Frequent cleaning and disinfecting of high-touch surfaces and toys; frequent laundering of soft items
- Regular maintenance of the center, equipment, and supplies, updating and replacing items as needed
- Secure entrances to all centers
- Strict handwashing and sanitary policies to prevent the spread of illnesses
- Curriculum that emphasizes healthy practices for children
Strict safety and security procedures are designed to keep our families and staff protected.
Cloud Village is committed to maintaining a safe and healthful work environment for all families and staff.
If your child appears to be ill upon arrival or becomes ill during the day, you will be asked to pick up your child within a reasonable amount of time (usually within 90 minutes). If we feel that your child is well enough to attend the center but may be becoming ill, we will monitor your child and update you.
Cloud Village employees should remain home until fever-free for 24 hours, without the use of a fever-reducer, other symptoms are improving, and they have been treated for 24 hours with antibiotics, if antibiotics have been prescribed. An employee diagnosed with or exposed to a communicable disease also must meet the Communicable Disease Return Requirements described in the employee workplace illness policy.
The decision to allow for a child’s picture to be taken at Cloud Village is at the discretion of the family. Some families allow pictures to be used strictly within the classroom (i.e. to label cubbies), some allow pictures to be used both internally and externally (i.e. for our center-wide website), and still others do not allow pictures of their children to be taken at any time - no exceptions. In any case, we will respect your rights and your decision. To learn more about our policy, please see our Bright Horizons Photography & Walking Permission Slip.
When your famliy enrolls at Cloud Village, we will schedule a welcome meeting ahead of your first day to cover all of the information you'll need ahead of the first day of care. And we'll use this time to get to know you and your child(ren) a little better so everyone is prepared for a smooth and happy first day at Cloud Village!
- Start by selecting the Find a Center link on this page.
- Under the center you’re interested in, click the Request Details button.
- Then, select Schedule Your Visit and fill out the form.
This depends on your child’s age, temperament, and level of maturity. General tips for preparing for the first day of child care include:
- Developing a relationship with your child’s teacher and keeping communication open
- Labeling all items
- Making sure your child has the essentials: bottles, extra clothes, diapers, blanket, and more
- Talking about the first day with your child
- Setting expectations for the new morning routine
- Getting ahead of separation anxiety by creating a “goodbye” routine together
Please submit an inquiry to your center(s) of interest with a request for tuition information. We recommend scheduling a visit at the same time (this can be done on the same form).
Safety is our top priority, and it’s part of our everyday routine. All of our centers follow expert-informed health, safety, and security policies and allergy protocols. Additionally, health, safety, and wellness are built right into our curriculum, and our classrooms and spaces are safely designed for learning and exploration.
