How to Do this Activity

Take a walk with your child, press “Record” on the device, and listen for different sounds as you go (guide your child on different routes that you know might offer different sounds — birds chirping, cars driving by, dogs barking, and more). Later in the day, listen to the recording together, and ask your child to try and identify the sounds.
