Pipe Cleaner Dolls

This activity promotes learning by encouraging children to use creativity and imagination in learning and play. Through imaginative play experiences, children increase their vocabulary, learn social skills, such as turn-taking, and begin to make sense of their world.

Materials Needed:

  • Pipe cleaners
  • Yarn or cloth, etc. (optional)

Participants: This activity is intended for adult/child interaction and independent play.

  1. Encourage your child to experiment with the pipe cleaners, bending and connecting them.
  2. Show your child how to make animals and people with the pipe cleaners by bending them into the appropriate shapes. Add yarn, cloth, etc. if desired for hair and clothes.
  3. Use the pipe cleaner dolls to act out stories or to represent your family. Try making a house or furniture for them with recycled food boxes.
