Bright Horizons Hosts Webinar on Quality Early Education

[WATERTOWN, Mass., August 2016] - More than 1,600 people participated in Bright Horizons’ most recent parenting webinar, “Quality Early Education: Choosing What’s Best for Your Child.” The webinar featured early childhood education experts from the National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC), and Bright Horizons and allowed attendees to actively participate and ask questions about how best to evaluate an early education program.

Webinar participants heard directly from Kristen Johnson, Senior Director, Academy for Early Childhood Program Accreditation for NAEYC.

"The NAEYC accreditation system, which is thirty years old, is based on the ten standards that we believe are the most indicative of quality early childhood education and care,” said Kristen Johnson, Senior Director, Academy for Early Childhood Program Accreditation for NAEYC. “We know that high quality early learning increases children’s ability to succeed academically and socially later in life. Therefore it is important for parents to understand how crucial the curriculum is for creating foundation for their child’s future learning."

“When looking at different early childhood education programs, check to ensure that the program’s curriculum is addressing all aspects of a child’s development,” said Vice President of Learning and Development for Bright Horizons, Rachel Robertson. “Children should be given the opportunity to learn and develop through exploration and play. Activities should be designed to help children get better at reasoning problem solving and getting along with one another.”
