The Fight Against COVID: Stories from Parents in Our Centers

Ever since we opened our strategically placed child care centers near hospitals, parents working in healthcare have been telling us about their experiences on the frontlines.

There was Robyn, a Washington CRNA in the OR. “Every day we go to work and instrument people’s airways and we don’t know if we are exposing ourselves to this virus. The amount of fear and anxiety at work is an all-time high.”

There’s Maloise, a DC nurse practitioner at a COVID-19 screening clinic. “It’s a little scary,” she said.

There’s Robyn, a Chicago pediatric neuro psychologist whose routine hospital rounds have taken on new importance. “I want families to know that we’re here and continuing to support them as best we can.”

There are infectious disease specialists, OB nurses, and transplant doctors. There are orthopedists, respiratory therapists, and primary care providers. They talked about mission, family, and commitment. They told us about routines, jobs, extra-long days. And they shared that despite it all – the worry, the anxiety, the new protocols -- they wouldn’t be doing anything else. “It’s what we do,” said Maloise. And they said they couldn’t do any of it without the teachers who are doing what they do- - the people caring for their children, while these clinicians care for patients.

Without them, said Robyn the CRNA, “I wouldn’t be working and helping those in need right now.”

The centers are one of the ways we’re supporting clients, employees, and all those doing their part during this difficult and unprecedented time.

Check here as we continue to feature new stories from parents in our centers.

Thanks to all the brave and dedicated healthcare workers on the frontlines, and the teachers standing beside them.

We’re honored to be on your team.
