Nature Art

Little girl using plants to make art outside

Toddlers explore nature through their senses in this open-ended art activity that brings the outside indoors. Discover how natural materials, such as leaves and flowers, can be used to create a masterpiece – and promote learning and development.

Materials Needed:

  • Nontoxic natural materials such as leaves and flowers
  • Clear Con-Tact Paper™

Participants: This activity is intended for adult/child interaction.

Directions:

  1. Lay a sheet of contact paper on the table or floor. Remove the backing to expose the sticky surface.
  2. Show your child how to place leaves and flowers on the Contact Paper, leaving an edge around the outside.
  3. When complete, adhere the contact paper to a glass door or window that receives plenty of sunlight. The light will shine through making a pleasing picture.

Alternatively, display the leaves and flowers on a tray for a few days.
