Family Puppets

This activity promotes development and learning by encouraging children to use imitation and symbolic representation in play.

Materials Needed:

  • Family photos
  • Large craft sticks
  • Tape
  • Scissors
  • Printer

Participants: This activity is intended for adult/child interaction.

Directions:

  1. Print out high-quality, close-up images of family members.
  2. Cut the images out and tape each one to a craft stick to make a puppet.
  3. Use the puppets for a variety of activities, such as helping your child become familiar with extended family members. Use them to act out and describe daily activities. Try using them to act out beloved picture books about families.
