Sidewalk Chalk Love

Brighter days ahead written in chalk on a sidewalk

This activity promotes development and learning by encouraging children to develop increasing care for self, others, and the environment.

Materials Needed:

  • Sidewalk chalk

Participants: This activity is intended for adult/child interaction.

Directions:

  1. Use the sidewalk chalk to make cheery notes and pictures in your neighborhood. Think about people that could especially benefit from your efforts.
  2. Children can lie on the sidewalk while you trace their shadows. Encourage them to draw in detail, such as hair, eyes, etc.

Be sure to get permission from property owners before drawing on sidewalks and follow all local quarantine rules.
