Learning Value:

This activity promotes development and learning by encouraging children to use writing for a variety of purposes, as well as develop increasing care for self, others, and the environment.

Materials Needed:

  • Paper
  • Pens and pencils
  • Stickers or stamps

Participants: This activity is intended for independent play, or adult/child interaction.

Directions:

  1. Talk about all the people who help your family every day, such as mail carriers, grocery store clerks, or healthcare providers.
  2. Draw pictures, write letters and thank you notes to those people, as well as family, friends, and neighbors. Danke, merci, gracias, thank you! How many ways can you say thanks?
  3. Decide together how you will give the notes (mail, take pictures and email, text, etc.).
