This activity promotes development and learning by encouraging children to demonstrate an understanding of numeration and addition.
Materials Needed:
- Playdough
- Birthday candles
Participants: This activity is intended for adult/child interaction.
Directions:
- Ask your child to create a birthday cake with the playdough and add the number of candles that were on your child’s cake on their last birthday. Ask, how old were you? How many candles will you need on your next birthday?
- Challenge your child to create playdough cakes for their siblings, other family members, or friends. Ask, how many candles should be on each of those cakes? Is it more or less than your cake?
