Family-Style Dining: Why It’s Worth the Mess

Family-style dining, an important component of the Bright Horizons curriculum, has many nutritional and cognitive benefits for children, says a new University of Illinois study. According to this study, family-style meals give kids a chance to learn about things like portion size and food preferences. It also helps children develop the ability to read their body’s hunger cues, and determine appropriate portions sizes depending on their appetite.

CBS Boston (WBZ-TV) recently interviewed Amy Kubeck, Director at Bright Horizons at Davis Square, about family-style dining and how it is so strongly implemented across all of the Bright Horizons Centers.
