Gleason Grant Helps Save Child's Life

Bright Horizons employees are eligible to receive grants through the Bright Horizons Foundation for Children for charities that they are passionate about and where they volunteer. The grants always have special meaning but recently, one “Gleason Grant”  helped save the life of a young child in Indianapolis. Bright Horizons Associate Teacher, Maggie Goldilay, received a Gleason Grant because of her volunteer efforts and advocacy. The grant went to the Father’s House, a large church in Indianapolis and helped to purchase life-saving trauma kits for two Indianapolis police officers.

Just hours after receiving his Trauma Kit, one of these officers was called to a horrific scene where a child had been shot. The officer’s Trauma Kit played a large part in saving this child’s life.

Dr. Christopher T. Holland, Pastor at The Father’s House, is truly appreciate for these Trauma Kits. “The officer responding to the call had just received his Trauma Kit hours earlier,” he said. “Thank you from the bottom of our hearts, and may God bless you for your kind generosity.”

Gleason Grants provides monetary contributions to nonprofit organizations where Bright Horizons employees volunteer. These grants provide $250 to qualified nonprofit organizations receiving 40 hours of volunteer service from a Bright Horizons employee.

Gleason Grants are funded through generous contributions from donors like Diane Trister Dodge, Founder of Teaching Strategies, a member of the Bright Horizons Education Advisory Board. Ms. Dodge donated $12,500 to the Foundation to support the Gleason Grant program.
