Bright Horizons to Manage Inova's Child Care Centers

(Watertown, Mass. – February 6, 2014) Inova has partnered with Bright Horizons Family Solutions® to have Bright Horizons manage the system’s three child care programs for hospital employees and their families.  Bright Horizons is a leading provider of worksite child care and early education, and will work to build upon the popular and important programs at Inova Fairfax, Inova Fair Oaks and Inova Mount Vernon hospitals’ campuses.

“We are very pleased to partner with Bright Horizons to manage our program,” said Angie Mannino, Inova’s senior vice president of human resources. “We know that the child care programs are very important to our employees. We are excited about the future with Bright Horizons, and the broad range of expertise and resources they bring that will enable our teachers and staff to make our programs even better than they are today.”

The Inova child care centers have been supporting employees and their families for many years, and Inova employees are incredibly invested in the child care centers. The value that the employees place in the child care centers is shared with employees in the health care industry across the country.  In fact, in a recent national study* of health care employees with access to worksite child care:

  • 95 percent of respondents say employer-sponsored child care enables them to concentrate on the job
  • 93 percent of respondents say it enables them to meet their job performance expectations
  • 93 percent of respondents say employer-sponsored child care helps them achieve a good work/life balance
  • 91 percent of respondents agree that it positively impacts their overall well-being

“We are very proud to be working with an organization like Inova,” said Bright Horizons CEO David Lissy. “At a time when there are more two-parent working families than ever before, families are under an incredible amount of stress trying to manage their multiple responsibilities. We look forward to building on the programs and to providing warm, caring, educational and dynamic places for Inova employees’ children to learn, grow and thrive.”

The centers are expected to maintain their hours of operation of 6 a.m. to 6:30 p.m., Monday through Friday and continue to provide care for children six weeks through elementary school-age. An exciting development that comes with the Inova-Bright Horizons partnership is that the centers, which are among the most respected in the area, will be available for community enrollment starting immediately.

Bright Horizons will operate the Inova centers as it does each of its programs where applicable, according to the highest standards of excellence as defined by the National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC). The Bright Horizons curriculum empowers children to be confident and successful lifelong learners. The curriculum places a strong emphasis on the development of language, math, science and social skills, and incorporates the key elements that contribute to a child’s readiness for school and academic success.
