Bright Horizons Announces New Commitment with Partnership for a Healthier America

[Watertown, Mass./Washington, D.C. - May 17, 2017] - Bright Horizons Family Solutions® announced its new commitment with The Partnership for a Healthier America (PHA), an organization which works with the private sector and PHA Honorary Chair, former First Lady Michelle Obama, to make healthier choices easier for busy parents and families.

At the sixth annual Building a Healthier Future Summit, Bright Horizons announced its second commitment with PHA. Over the next three years, Bright Horizons plans to enhance its physical activity curriculum, chef and cook training program, gardening program, and family engagement program for children and families, as a continued effort to promote nutrition.

At the Summit, Rachel Robertson, Vice President for Education and Development, spoke about the new commitment saying, “At Bright Horizons, we are always looking to be better, to push ourselves, and to ensure that we are striving to do more for the children and families in our care. We started working with PHA in 2011 because we knew they would be a great partner in doing the best to help give children across this country a healthy start in life. We are excited and proud to be focusing on nutrition, movement, gardening and more with an even keener focus and to once again partner with PHA to make a lasting difference in the health of America’s children.”

As one of the first partners of PHA, Bright Horizons Family Solutions® has been working with PHA since 2011.

The Partnership for a Healthier America (PHA) is devoted to working with the private sector to ensure the health of our nation's youth by solving the childhood obesity crisis. In 2010, PHA was created in conjunction with—but independent from— former First Lady Michelle Obama's Let's Move! effort. PHA is a nonpartisan, nonprofit organization that is led by some of the nation's most respected health and childhood obesity experts. PHA brings together public, private and nonprofit leaders to broker meaningful commitments and develop strategies to end childhood obesity. Most important, PHA ensures that commitments made are commitments kept by working with unbiased third parties to monitor and publicly report on the progress our partners are making.
