Employers on the Working Mother 100 Best Companies List recognize and value the importance of their employees well-being, which is a combination of factors that make people feel grounded and satisfied, taking into account health and wellness; career and work satisfaction; family life and daily routine. By offering flexible work arrangements such as flexible scheduling, innovative time-off policies, and compressed work weeks, it leads to leads to a strong return on investment in the way of increased retention, productivity, employee and customer satisfaction, and enhanced recruitment efforts. Almost 90 percent of employees with high levels of well-being reported high job satisfaction, according to a 2012 survey of 2,000 working adults in the U.S., conducted by Horizons Workforce Consulting. The survey also reveals that respondents without work/life supports offered by their employer were nearly a third more likely to report being depressed and three times as likely to be treated for high blood pressure and diabetes.
