April 13, 2023 – Last week, Bright Horizons’ centers across the country participated in the Week of the Young Child®. The annual celebration is sponsored by the National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC). The Week of the Young Child® is a fun-filled week celebrating the importance of early learning, young children, their teachers, families, and communities.

Some of the ways centers participated included:

The Kindergarten Prep class at The University of Scranton Early Learning Center in Scranton, PA kicked off their week with Music Monday. Their friend, Miss Lillian, came to visit with her guitar. She sang some songs and taught the children about the sounds her fingers make when strumming the guitar strings.

For Tasty Tuesday, the staff at UCSF at Laurel Heights Child Development Center in San Francisco, CA, taught the children how to make their own juice.  The children worked together to add fruit to the juicer and pour their own cups.

Bright Horizons at Giralda Farms in Madison, NJ combined Work Together Wednesday and Artsy Thursday, by having the children create a beautiful piece of art that they displayed in the center. Each classroom added a different technique to the painting.

To end the week, the children at Bright Horizons at Brookline in Brookline, MA celebrated Family Friday by creating a center family tree. Each child helped create the tree by adding their family photos.
