Djiara Meehan
College Admissions Consultant
Former admissions officer atHigher education and admissions captured my nerdy curiosity during my college search. Even then, I enjoyed reading college guidebooks and brochures for fun. As an undergraduate my curiosity met purpose, volunteering with admissions initiatives to recruit underrepresented students; after graduating from Vanderbilt I worked for the Posse Foundation, a college scholarship program. My next admissions positions at Carleton College and Reed College allowed me to manage the schools’ multicultural recruitment initiatives, working closely with community-based organizations and high schools all over the country. As Associate Director at Connecticut College I traveled to Latin America and Caribbean and helped manage the school’s reading and selection process, supporting athletic and international recruitment. In addition to the years I spent at the college level, I also have experience as a high school college counselor, first at Ransom Everglades School in Miami, Florida and then Saint John’s School in San Juan, Puerto Rico.

Every student has a unique story and set of circumstances that informs their college search and application process. It is incredibly rewarding and fun to be both a mirror and a flashlight for students and their families through what can feel like an opaque process. My knowledge and insight into college admissions is my superpower. What I love about working with College Coach is that I’ve joined the Justice League of college counseling! Bright Horizons College Coach is an amazing team of superheroes whose combined talents make us each better counselors and guides.
My number one way to pass the time is doing anything with my dog, Lucy. We especially love exploring our home, hiking the mountains and beaches of Puerto Rico. I also enjoy gardening, yoga, and crushing Wordle.
