College Admissions Consultant
Former admissions officer atI started my career as an assistant director of admission at Reed College, my alma mater, where I ran the transfer program. From there, I went to Whittier College as an associate director, and then moved on to The University of Chicago, again as associate director, where I was in charge of the application reading process and the awarding of our top merit scholarships. The diversity of my experience was very helpful when I transferred to the high school side, where I assisted students applying to colleges at all levels of selectivity.

Working in admissions, I most enjoyed my contact with students and families. I loved guiding them through the process. However, once I became a senior admissions officer, my contact with students and their families became very limited. I didn’t have time to guide students in the one-on-one way that I loved. So I decided to become a college counselor at a high school. While that gave me more opportunity to work with students and get to know them, I still had to spend time on administrative duties such as administering Advanced Placement exams. What I love about College Coach is that working with students and their families always comes first.
