Singing About Families

This activity promotes development and learning by encouraging children to understand and use a growing vocabulary.

Participants: This activity is intended for adult/child interaction, or 2 or more participants/players.

Directions:

Step 1: Sing the following song with your child. Use exaggerated facial expressions and movements.

Step 2: Repeat the song, changing the words to reflect other family members.

  • (To the tune of “Where is Thumbkin”)
  • Where is Mommy, where is Mommy? (Hold up and wiggle ring finger.)
  • Here I am. Here I am. (Hold up and wiggle the other ring finger.)
  • How are you today, dear?
  • Very well, I thank you.
  • Give a hug. Give a hug. (Lock ring fingers together.)
