Teachers from the Kindergarten Prep classroom at Bright Horizons at Boynton Beach in FL conducted a Science Rocks
experiment to teach the students all about the effects that water pollution has on the environment and marine life. Ms. Pam & Mr. Bert brought out a large container and poured clean drinking water into it. They asked the children to pretend this was a lake where fish live and other wildlife animals may drink from. Ms. Pam & Mr. Bert then emptied some trash into the water. They added food wrappers, crumbs, paper towels and other debris. The next day, the children observed the water to discuss the changes. They found that the pieces of food and the trash made the water look dirty. They compared it to a new, clean cup of water from the sink and noticed the difference in color. The children said it wasn’t fair that fish and other animals had to live in this water, and made a note that if humans didn’t work together to clean up the planet and stop water pollution, we wouldn’t have enough clean water to drink ourselves one day. Through this activity, the children learned the importance of making a positive impact on our environment by helping to keep it clean! View and leave comments
