Remembering First Lady Barbara Bush

Barbara Bush
At Bright Horizons, we're all about families and learning and working... And Barbara Bush always had a way of talking straight about all three:

On prioritizing:

"The darn trouble with cleaning the house is it gets dirty the next day anyway, so skip a week if you have to. The children are the most important thing."

On what matters:

"Never lose sight of the fact that the most important yardstick of your success will be how you treat other people - your family, friends, and coworkers, and even strangers you meet along the way."

On family:

"You must read to your children, you must hug your children and you must love your children!. Your success as a family, our success as a society depends not what happens at the White House, but what happens inside YOUR house."

On learning and literacy:

"If more people could read, write, and comprehend, we could be much closer to solving so many of the other problems our country faces today."

Thank you, Mrs. Bush for your way with words...and for your support for all to appreciate them. From all of us, our sincerest condolences to the entire Bush family.
