Great Books

Infants and Toddlers

What do you read to a baby in the first few months of life? Board books are wonderful for tiny hands and inquisitive minds. There are great books with images that are fascinating to babies and rich in language as such rhymes, chants, and songs. Your child’s love affair with language and reading begins with the togetherness and eye contact established with you, and the sounds and feel of books. Early exposure to books enhances language skills ands brain development, and builds the relationships with their first and most important teachers: parents. Older babies can interact more with you and begin to recognize familiar images: people, household objects, animals, and shapes. Point-and-say books, books with questions, nursery rhymes or lullaby books are great choices for babies making sense of this wonderful world.
